The year is obviously starting with a good note for NCT 127 as the group wins its first daesang at the 31st Seoul Music Awards.
NCT 127 previously won a daesang at the 2021 Asia Artist Awards, and this was the first grand prize the group received from SMA ever since its debut.
The 31st Seoul Music Awards was held at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on the afternoon of January 23. The prestigious award show was hosted by Kim Sung Joo, Boom, and Seolhyun.
NCT 127 Takes Home Daesang From The 31st Seoul Music Awards
The honor of receiving the grand prize was given to NCT 127, who also presented a spectacular performance that day.
The members took the trophy with tears in their eyes, showing that hard work will always pay off.
In particular, NCT 127’s leader Taeyong expressed how it was a big award, and they were deeply moved to receive such a prestigious title. “All nine members worked really hard, and I think that 2021 was a year where we could shine because all members of NCT, 127, DREAM, WayV, NCT 2021, were together.”
Taeyong continued extending his gratitude to the members and how he is proud of being with them on this journey. “I hope that we can continue being healthy and happy without getting injured or sick.”
After Taeyong’s heartwarming speech, Doyoung takes the microphone as he tries to stop the tears from his eyes.
“Receiving an award like this was a long dream come true. I thought, is it okay for us to receive an award like this? But we will continue to work hard to be singers who are deserving of this. I would like to say thank you to all members’ parents as well.”
Johnny says their parents are the stars
Before leaving the stage, the hosts suggested Johnny convey a speech in English. He first thanked their parents in Korean then proceeded to shout in joy addressing her mother to say, “We made it!”
Johnny continued expressing his gratitude to the members' parents and acknowledged their vital presence as the main reason they were able to stand in front of millions of people.
“They are the reason that we were able to make it all the way here. They were the stars; they were the ones who supported us. They still support us. I really hope that my parents and our parents know how much we appreciate them.”
Ending the speech, Johnny thanked fans and acknowledged the fact that they really worked hard on every music they released.
“I’m really glad and happy to see my members happy. And I know those of you who are watching are happy as well. Happy 2022!”
Meanwhile, NCT 127 also received a bonsang, while NCT DREAM received the Best Album Award at the 31st Seoul Music Awards.
