Catherine Zeta-Jones has been cast in a central role in the National Treasure Disney+ series. The series is a continuation of the National Treasure movie franchise, which starred Nicolas Cage, Jon Voight, Diane Kruger, and Justin Bartha.

Catherine Zeta-Jones to Play Villain in National Treasure Disney+ Series

Zeta-Jones will portray a character named Billie. We don't know much about the character other than that she's a badass millionaire, black-market antique specialist, and treasure hunter who lives by her own rules. She changed herself from a poor orphan to a savvy, stylish businesswoman and traveler.

Because of this, Billie is accustomed to getting what she desires - and she is a rare gem. But not only for the money. This treasure holds greater significance for her.

Zeta-Jones' previous films include Ocean's Twelve (directed by Steven Soderbergh), Chicago (directed by Rob Marshall), and The Mask of Zorro (directed by Martin Campbell). She earned an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her work in Chicago. In the upcoming Netflix series Wednesday, Zeta-Jones will play Morticia Addams.

What We Know So Far About Disney+'s National Treasure Series

Jess Morales (Lisette Alexis), a clever and resourceful DREAMer who goes on a once-in-a-lifetime expedition to find the truth about her parents' murky pasts and uncover a lost Pan-American treasure, serves as the heroine in the National Treasure Disney+ show.

Zuri Reed as Tasha, Jordan Rodrigues as Ethan, Antonio Cipriano as Oren, and Jake Austin Walker as Liam round out the cast of the National Treasure series. They are Jess' friends that help her in her quest, as does FBI Agent Ross (Lyndon Smith).

The series' executive producers will be Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, and Kristie Anne Reed. Bruckheimer was also a producer on the films. When speaking to Collider about the series' progress in 2020, Bruckheimer also revealed that a third film in the franchise was in the works, with the actors of the previous two films returning. ABC Signature will produce the series.

The official release date for the National Treasure Disney+ series has yet to be revealed. Meanwhile, fans may see the previous two films on Disney+, which are currently available to stream.
