The Star Wars franchise has seen the return of prequel trilogy actors over the last couple of years — from Temuera Morrison to Hayden Christensen. Now, it appears that another prequel icon is ready to make a potential comeback to a galaxy far, far away and that's none other than Natalie Portman.

A pivotal part of the prequels, Padme Amidala died in Revenge of the Sith but the fandom's desire to see her once again has escalated over the years, especially considering her co-stars have made appearances in several Disney+ projects.

Portman recently made an appearance on Watch What Happens Live along with Julianne Moore to promote their latest Netflix project May December. When asked about the possibility of returning to Star Wars, the Mighty Thor actor said that she's open to it although discussions have not been made.

"No there have not been," Portman said. "No one has asked me but I'm open to it." Looking back on her "amazing" filming experience, she added: "It was the first time I worked digitally. I don’t think anyone was shooting that way then. It was my first time working with a green screen. It was a whole new set of skills to pick up and a whole new world to enter."

A reunion between Portman and Christensen would easily send fans into a frenzy. However, it's trickier to pull off than you think, especially considering Padme isn't a Jedi and can't become a Force Ghost like Anakin.

That's not to say though that both actors can't appear in a flashback sequence.

Meanwhile, all of your Star Wars favorites are available to stream on Disney+.
