My Dress-Up Darling is a manga series by Shinichi Fukuda. It was serialized in Square Enix’s Young Gangan in 2018. As of October 2021, it can be collected in eight volumes. CloverWorks decided to adapt the series into an anime.
The story follows Wakana Gojo, a high school student who wants to be a hina doll craftsman. Unexpectedly, Marin Kitagawa, a popular girl in school, saw him making doll costumes. It has been a dream of hers to cosplay and after seeing Wakana’s skill, she asked him to make a costume for her. In particular, she wanted a costume from the video game that she likes. Wakana does not have experience when it comes to making costumes for humans but he saw her passion and determination so he agreed to create a costume for her.
My Dress-Up Darling Episode 1 Details
It has been confirmed that My Dress-Up Darling episode one will be released on January 9, 2022. It will be available on various channels like Tokyo MX, GTV, and BS11. Those who do not have access to these channels will have to stream the series on Funimation. Muse Communication also acquired a license over the series to view it for fans residing in Southeast and South Asia.
Those who would like to check out the series on Funimation can easily do so as the streaming site has a free trial period for non-members. Those who wish to become members, on the other hand, can sign up and pay $5.99 per month or $59.99 per year. Membership will grant them perks like ad-free shows, access to the manga and anime libraries, and simulcasts one hour after Japan.
As of this writing, there is no confirmed total number of episodes for My Dress-Up Darling. Fans will have to wait for Funimation’s confirmation if the anime will have an English dub or not. The streaming giant is known for offering dubbed versions for its titles so there is a chance that My Dress-Up Darling will get one too.
