Ms. Marvel Officially Casts Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan

Though the industry may have halted thanks to global pandemic, things are starting to get back in gear for Marvel Studios. After the recent announcement that Tatiana Maslany has been cast as She-Hulk, Marvel Studios has found their Ms. Marvel, Kamala Khan.

According to Deadline, Marvel has cast newcomer Iman Vellani to play the Pakistani-American Kamala Khan a.k.a. Ms. Marvel. We don't have much details on the casting of Vellani yet, but we should expect her Kamala to be pretty close to her comic counterpart, in the sense that she's a huge Avengers fangirl, and she's growing up Muslim with her family.

For now, Vellani is the only confirmed actress for the series, but we should get announcements of other cast members soon. It's been rumored that Kamala will actually make her debut in a property other than Ms. Marvel, but since Marvel's slate has been pushed back significantly, we can't really gauge when she will make her first appearance in the MCU continuity.

Personally, I love Kamala, and I think she's one of the more fun iterations of modern Marvel heroes. I love how she's an absolute fangirl, and it's great to see her interact with other heroes. With Kamala already being established in the Square Enix Avengers game, I'm hoping this Disney+ series will find a way to set the onscreen Ms. Marvel apart.

No release date has been set for Ms. Marvel, but fans are expecting a series premiere sometime in 2022. In the meantime, we wait for WandaVision which hits Disney+ before 2020 ends.
