It has been a long wait but Morbius is finally screening in theaters. Interestingly, the extended delay didn't affect the film negatively. The Jared Leto movie has reportedly earned $17.1 million on its opening day and is predicted to haul in up to $41.5 million during its opening weekend at the box office!
Morbius has been one of the most delayed films in recent cinema, initially set to premiere back in June 2020. However, the movie was pushed back several times due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Sony Pictures' own scheduling of its projects. Luckily, the film was finally released in theaters on April 1, 2022, much to the relief of fans.
Not surprisingly, the long wait may have been worth it for fans. It has been revealed that Morbius took in an awesome $17.1 million on its opening day. The film is now projected to bring in around $41.5 million on its opening weekend at the domestic box office.
The projection isn't a huge surprise considering that Morbius was initially expected to bring in $40 million on its opening weekend. With that in mind, the movie is off to a great start despite the negative reviews prior to its premiere.
