After the huge success of Venom: Let There Be Carnage, up next on Sony's Spider-Man Universe slate is Morbius. The film was supposed to be released last year, but it underwent numerous delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic before settling on a January 2022 release date. Now, ahead of tomorrow's release of the new trailer, we have a new extended look at the film.

In an exclusive featurette that was recently released, we get to see a new glimpse of Dr. Michael Morbius (played by Jared Leto) as he looks for a cure for his rare blood disease, but ended up being afflicted with a form of vampirism. "He's got some unique powers, but his powers seem to be out of his control," Leto said in the video. "Putting a Marvel character on screen that's never been on screen before, it'll be fun to see where we can go with that. There's a web of opportunity..."

The featurette only gave us quick glimpses of Morbius in action since they will unveil more footage in the new trailer tomorrow.

Leto was clearly hinting when he said "There's a web of opportunity." Could that mean we might see the character interact with Spider-Man or be part of the MCU? After all, the first trailer revealed that Michael Keaton's Adrian Toomes/Vulture from MCU's Spider-Man: Homecoming will be part of the film. There's no clear indication yet if it indicates that Morbius is actually part of the MCU.

Thanks to the post-credits of Venom: Let There Be Carnage, there are now questions if Sony's Spider-Man Universe and the MCU will intertwine in the future. After all, it is now possible for those two universes to co-exist thanks to the multiverse. We will find out the answers soon enough once we get to see Spider-Man: No Way Home this coming December.
