Yes, like many successful K-Dramas that you can watch right now, Moon in the Day is based on a webtoon. The source material for the Kdrama is the popular webtoon, Moonrise During the Day, which was created by Heyum.

Since this is a time-slip K-Drama, the lead characters play dual roles. Kim Young-dae stars as Han Jun-oh, a popular celebrity, and Do-ha, an elite aristocrat from the Silla Dynasty. Opposite him is Pyo Ye-jin, who stars as Kang Young-hwa, a firefighter/bodyguard, and Han Ri-ta, a survivor from Daegaya.

In the webtoon, Do-ha is an exceptional man who became an elite member of Hwarang when he was only 14 years old. Sadly, he was killed by his wife when he was 19.

In the modern time, Do-ha's spirit possesses Han Jun-oh, who plans to kill Young-hwa. As it turns out, Young-hwa is the reincarnation of Han Ri-ta, his late wife. Ri-ta has been reborn after 1,500 years. Despite this duration of time, Do-ha is still a vengeful spirit who has waited for his revenge.

In the present day, however, Young-hwa was hired to be Jun-oh's bodyguard. When she tries to protect Jun-oh, Do-ha is confused.

Will he be able to take revenge on Ri-ta? Or will he finally be at peace with the past?
