Mnet has officially announced that Queendom Season 2 will be launching sometime in 2022. Queendom is an entertainment program that aired its first season in 2019.

The Mnet show featured six trending Kpop girl groups in a comeback battle to determine the “real number one” when all of them are to release a track simultaneously. The participants for the show were MAMAMOO, AOA, (G)I-DLE, OH MY GIRL, Lovelyz, and 2ne1 Park Bom.

The intriguing program released its first episode on August 29, 2019, and lasted for about ten weeks, concluding the show on October 31, 2019. All in all, the girl groups went on three preliminary stages and a live comeback stage at the end of the season.

To determine the final winner of Queendom Season 1, all six girl groups released new tracks wherein the digital points and live votes accumulated became the key point.

At the end of the show, the winning girl group presented a special comeback show in which they featured their new track and other hit releases. MAMAMOO was the show’s winner, and the 4-member girl group had their comeback show broadcasted on Mnet on November 3, 2020, with the 10th mini-album Travel.

Mnet Confirms Queendom Season 2

On December 14, an official from Mnet told news outlets that Queendom is returning for season 2. Specific details for the program's release were not yet unveiled. However, it is expected to air sometime in 2022.

After Queendom ended, spin-off programs were also released. Road to Kingdom featured 7 Kpop boy groups who vie for a spot in the following program, Kingdom. Like Queendom’s overview, Road to Kingdom and Kingdom also saw the boy groups in a performance battle to determine who the “real king” is.

The Boyz won the Road to Kingdom and has secured their spot in the following program, Kingdom. On December 6, 2020, the lineup for Kingdom was revealed through a special stage at the 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards.

Kingdom featured six trending Kpop boy groups BTOB, iKON, SF9, ATEEZ, Stray Kids, and the Road to Kingdom winners The Boyz.

Just like Queendom, these talented groups faced head-to-head in 4 rounds of competitions. The final round was broadcast live through Mnet, with the show's winner receiving their own reality show.

Kingdom ended on June 3, 2021, with Stray Kids as the sole winner.

Meanwhile, huge attention is focused on which girl groups will participate in Queendom Season 2. Some fans are already guessing the lineup, while several netizens are against the thought of their favorite girl groups entering the competition.
