The Fall 2021 anime season is coming to a conclusion, and a lot of the 12-episode shows have already ended. One of these is the horror-comedy series Mieruko-chan. Mieruko-chan follows Miko Yotsuya, a high school student who suddenly started seeing ghosts and the supernatural. Many of these creatures are grotesque looking, which greatly scares Miko. However, she has to pretend that she doesn't see any of them in order to protect herself and her friends. After all, there are still a lot of things that Miko doesn't know about these ghosts.

The series is pretty popular and well-received, consistently ranking in the Top 10 polls of Anime Corner for the Fall 2021 anime. With that being said, can we expect an announcement regarding Season 2 soon?

Warning: the following section contains minor manga spoilers.

With the manga still currently ongoing, the anime will have content to adapt for the second season. However, the chapters released so far are still most likely not enough for a 12-episode season. Season 1 of Mieruko-chan left us with a significant of unanswered questions: how did Miko gain this mysterious ability? Who are those shrine spirits? Why did someone send the Takeda Mitsue (the Godmother) the photo of Miko and Hana at the shrine?

Season 2 will probably pick up where the manga left off and perhaps finally provide the answers to those questions. Miko continues to deal with seeing these monsters, but it looks like more important things are also happening in the background. Plus, there are new characters introduced in the story, including a mysterious man named Shindou Romm. Moreover, the Godmother returns! Will she be able to help Miko out with her situation?

As of December 2021, there are no announcements yet regarding the second season of Mieruko-chan from publisher Kadokawa Shoten or Passione, the series' animation studio. It will probably take some time, considering there is not yet enough manga content to adapt into a new season — whether that may be a 12-episode one or more. Stay tuned for further updates!
