Miko is slowly trying to grasp the fact that she does, indeed, see ghosts. In the second episode of Mieruko-chan, Miko learns that there is more to it than just seeing these creatures.
Mieruko-chan follows the story of Miko Yotsuya, a high school student who suddenly started seeing the supernatural. In order to cope with it, she struggles to keep a straight face and pretends that she doesn't see any of them.
Mieruko-chan Episode 2 Recap
Many ghosts are lurking around the school, which makes Miko uncomfortable. It's a good thing that her best friend, Hana, is there to somewhat calm her down. However, things aren't going so well when the creatures start clinging on to Hana, freaking Miko out. It doesn't help that Hana isn't good with horror either, so Miko thinks that she shouldn't tell her what she's been seeing.
While they were in the locker room, Miko saw a severed head inside Hana's locker. While in the classroom, a ghost starts attaching itself around Hana, who doesn't feel anything. Miko drags Hana with her to the nurse's office in an attempt to pull her away from the creature — which, unfortunately, doesn't work. She also tries spraying alcohol on Hana to no avail. Once the doctor arrives at the nurse's office, the creature transfers to the doctor.
After school, Miko and Hana line up for donuts. While looking at the menu on her phone, Miko realizes that she's in line with a bunch of ghosts. Hana drags Miko towards her, unknowingly rescuing Miko from getting eaten by a monster. Afterward, they see a stray cat and post about it online, hoping that someone will take it. A guy arrives, hoping to take the cat — but Miko refuses after seeing that he's surrounded by numerous dark creatures. Instead, she gives it to a guy covered in scars and tattoos, who she sees is surrounded by light.
