The new substitute homeroom teacher remains a suspicious figure, but Miko hasn't really figured out what his deal is yet. On the other hand, Miko, Hana, and Yulia enter a haunted house for the sake of free donuts.

Mieruko-chan Episode 9 Recap
The substitute homeroom teacher in Miko and Hana's class is Zen Toono, the guy who wanted to adopt the cat from Hana, but Miko didn't let him after seeing the monsters surrounding him. However, Hana doesn't remember who he is. Miko starts to become worried because she knows it might be bad news if Hana or Zen remembers who they are. In school, Miko sees Zen walking from the other side of the building. As he is walking, dark handprints are appearing on the windows, freaking her out. She runs to the bathroom to compose herself, but she ends up seeing a giant monster emerging out of the toilet. While trying to act cool to escape from the monster, she encounters Yulia eating her lunch inside one of the cubicles.
Miko and Hana invite Yulia to eat lunch with them instead since Miko said Yulia shouldn't eat in the school's bathroom anymore. While they're eating, Miko catches a glimpse of the substitute teacher again. Suddenly, another large ghost pops up from behind her, telling her not to look. Miko starts crying, and when the other two asked her what happened, she simply tells them a bug went in her eye.
Miko, Hana, and Yulia go to a donut shop's haunted house special autumn event. If they finish the haunted house, they get twenty free donuts. As such, Hana is motivated despite being a scaredy-cat. Throughout the maze, Hana is screaming and crying. Yulia was initially calm but started freaking out when she realized that the ghosts in this haunted house were the type to chase after them. Meanwhile, Miko takes the opportunity to finally let out her emotions and scream. After containing herself every time she sees a ghost, this time, she can actually react. The trio manages to finish the haunted house and win the free donuts.
