Many fans including myself grew up with Michael Keaton's version of Batman which in my opinion had the perfect balance of dark and campy. Keaton's take on the caped crusader has long been regarding as the standard and while other actors like Christian Bale and Ben Affleck delivered exceptional performances as the live-action Dark Knight, Keaton's portrayal of both Bruce Wayne and Batman will always hold a special place in the hearts of fans.

Despite his DC "retirement" following 1992's Batman Returns, Keaton was never able to escape the shadow of the bat and if you'll ask him, he still believes to this day that he was the best live-action version of the character and frankly, it's hard to say otherwise.

Now, you may be asking. If Keaton believes he's still the undisputed version of the caped crusader, which actor is the close second? During an appearance on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Keaton revealed which other actor in his book played Batman well on the big screen and his choice isn't someone you would expect. He said: "I'll tell you a great version, and that is, if you haven't seen it or heard it, Will Arnett's LEGO Batman is really funny."

Nobody thought it was ever going to happen again but I'm glad that Michael is set to make his triumphant return to the Batman franchise. I've always thought he was a pretty solid Batman and just like most fans, I've been fantasizing about the day he'll make his comeback and now we're here. What a great time to be a comic book film fan.The Flash is slated for release in November 2022.
