Netflix has just dropped its new Michael Jackson documentary, Michael Jackson: The Verdict, which revisits one of the most controversial moments in the music icon’s life.

The three-episode documentary explores the King of Pop’s 2005 criminal trial after he was accused of molesting 13-year-old Gavin Arvizo.

Featuring interviews with attorneys, journalists, and people close to Jackson, the series presents several revelations. That said, here are the biggest bombshells from The Verdict.

Michael Jackson: The Verdict featured Vincent Amen, who worked for Michael Jackson starting in 2002 and looked after the Arvizo family when they returned to live at Neverland Ranch to ride out the media storm.

Amen revealed that MJ would allegedly give young boys lewd nicknames and even presented a piece of evidence to support the claim.

He showed a series of old Polaroids taken at Neverland, featuring Gavin Arvizo’s mother, Janet, and his younger brother, Star.

In one of the photos, Star wrote a dedication saying, “I love you, my daddy Michael. Your son, Blowhole.”

Far different from his actual name, “Star,” Amen explained, “These are the nicknames that Michael would give these young boys.”

At the time, Michael Jackson’s associates had their homes searched in the wake of his arrest. His longtime friend and assistant, Frank Cascio (aka Frank Tyson), allegedly cleared his house of items connected to Neverland Ranch.

This included a Nike bag he gave to Vincent Amen. Suspicious, Amen checked the contents of the bag and filmed himself doing so.

Michael Jackson: The Verdict claims the bag contained a magazine that raised concerns, which, according to Amen, had marked sections in it.

“Someone wanted these videos, circled the ones they wanted. These videos, which are children naked. Some with family, some just naked children,” Amen revealed.

Amen then confronted Tyson about it.

“I said, you know, ‘Frank, what is this magazine? … There’s circles around videos with naked children,’” he continued. “He says, ‘That’s just a phase that Michael and I went through. He circled the videos that he wanted, I ordered them, it was a phase that we went through.’ They watched them together. When I heard that, I was in disbelief.”

Allegedly Hiding with Teen Boys Amid Neverland Raid

Despite the Neverland Ranch being raided by the FBI, investigative journalist Diane Dimond, who covered the case, alleged that Michael Jackson was staying in Las Vegas during that time.

Jackson was not at home when the raid occurred, leading to speculation about his whereabouts.

According to Dimond, a source claimed he was staying in a private villa and keeping a low profile while receiving deliveries.

“I find out from a source, he’s holed up in this villa, and he only opens the door wearing a colorful dashiki muumuu garment, only enough to get the food brought in, and then he slams the door,” she said.

She also reported claims that “wild parties” were going on inside the residence during that period.

“There were cigarette burns in the leather couches and chairs. There were empty liquor bottles on every table,” she continued. “And this is where Michael Jackson had been for several days, entertaining young teenage boys, who all spoke German.”

Michael Jackson Allegedly Asked Attorney to Dig into Arvizo Family

The Jackson family attorney, Brian Oxman, alleged in Michael Jackson: The Verdict that the 13-time Grammy Award winner asked him to investigate the Arvizo family’s past and find information that could portray them negatively before Janet Arvizo took the stand.

“Michael told me, ‘That’s your job, Brian. Your job is to find out what really happened here,’” he said. “‘I need to find every skeleton in their closet and dirt on their shoes.’”

The docuseries also suggests that Janet Arvizo’s erratic and rambling testimony undermined the prosecution’s case and even earned her the nickname “Janet from Another Planet” among jurors.

Michael Jackson Allegedly Groped Macaulay Culkin

Michael Jackson’s former cook, Phillip LeMarque, alleged he saw his boss groping Macaulay Culkin while they were playing video games in 1991.

Despite the accusation, the Home Alone star testified that Jackson never “inappropriately” touched him.

“I called him up and I said, ‘Mac, they’re making all these accusations against Michael about you,’” Brian Oxman recalled. “And Macaulay Culkin says, ‘From what I’m seeing going on in this courtroom, Michael is in deep, deep trouble. I’ll be there for him, Brian! I’ll testify! I’ve told them a thousand times and I’ll tell them again!’”

On the other hand, Diane Dimond remembered how the jury looked “a little starstruck” as two megastars were in the same courtroom.

As the two glanced at each other, Michael Jackson was said to smile.

Michael Jackson was ultimately found not guilty on all counts on June 13, 2005. Four years later, he died of acute propofol and benzodiazepine intoxication at the age of 50.
