Michael J. Fox is considered one of the most successful stars of the 1980s. After appearing on the hit sitcom Family Ties, he used to be a household name and became a major star after doing Back to the Future.

Michael J. Fox’s Career
The 61-year-old started his career in the late 1970s and rose to prominence when he played the role of Alex P. Keaton on Family Ties for seven years, from 1982 to 1989.
He then became an international star when he did the Back to the Future film trilogy, starting in 1985.
From there, he led several movies throughout the 1980s and 1990s, like Teen Wolf, The Secret of My Success, Casualties of War, Doc Hollywood, and The Frighteners.

Come the mid-1990s, he returned to the small screen with Spin City.
However, in 1998, Fox revealed he was diagnosed with Parking’s disease in 1991. He advocated finding a cure for the disease and founded the Michael J. Fox Foundation in 2000 to help fund its research.
Sadly, his symptoms worsened, forcing him to reduce his activities. Hence, he was left only doing guest appearances on Rescue Me and The Good Wife.
He also lent his voice to the movies Stuart Little and Atlantis: The Lost Empire. His last TV project was The Michael J. Fox Show before officially retiring in 2020 due to his declining health.
Michael J. Fox’s Awards and Net Worth
By being an award-winning star, Fox has proven he’s just more than a famous actor. He won five Primetime Emmy Awards, four Golden Globe Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and a Grammy Award.
He was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2010 and inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame in 2000 and the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2002.

He also received an honorary doctorate in 2020 from the Karolinska Institute and an honorary Oscar in 2022 for his advocacy to find a cure for Parkinson’s disease.

Back to the Future Reunion
Meanwhile, Fox reunited with his Back to the Future co-stars Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, and Tom Wilson at a fan expo in Portland, Oregon, over the weekend.
“Wow honestly had the best time today with my #bttf family,” Thompson captioned their snaps and videos on Instagram.
