I think we can all agree that Michael B. Jordan is a phenomenal actor with an already impressive acting resume but even the Black Panther star is no stranger to the occasional casting hiccups and apparently, he's lost coveted roles in the past. One of his most recent audition fails came in 2013 during a casting call for Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens where he auditioned as the fan-favorite character Finn who was one of the key players in the Skywalker saga.
Apart from the Creed star, the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Spider-Man actor Tom Holland also famously auditioned for the role but the actors failed their respective auditions miserably and the part ultimately went to John Boyega who would play the character throughout the divisive sequel trilogy. Recalling his horrible experience trying out for the role, Jordan considers it's his "worst audition to date".
In a conversation with IndieWire, the decorated actor said: "I think it was I couldn't wrap my brain around some of the sides because you know when you're reading for these high-level projects, there's never really any specificity in the sides. Everything's super vague; everything is in secret. Reading through, I just couldn't connect it. I definitely bombed that one for sure."
It may have looked like a huge loss but considering how the sequels turned out to be, I guess Jordan losing the Finn role was a huge blessing in disguise because let's face it, being involved in a polarizing franchise isn't going to be good for him, especially after his involvement in Fox's Fantastic Four reboot which a lot of people consider to be one of the worst Marvel films in recent memory. And had he succeeded with his Star Wars audition, we may never have witnessed his brilliant performance as Erik Killmonger in Black Panther.
Michael B. Jordan is producing the DCEU's Static Shock film.
