Originally airing in the spring 2018 season, Megalo Box gained a quick following thanks to its hard-hitting action sequences and interesting premise. Created as part of the 50th anniversary celebration of the classic boxing series Ashita no Joe, this series follows a young man known only as Junk Dog who fights in fixed matches in the futuristic sport of Megalo Boxing which is just like regular boxing except for it involves the fighters wearing mechanical suits which makes their hits much more powerful and potentially lethal.

After losing a fight to a much more experienced fighter, Junk Dog decides to enter the Megalonia tournament. A worldwide tournament to determine who is the strongest Megalo boxer in the world. In the second season, the story picks up seven years after the conclusion of the first season.

The first season of Megalo Box streamed on Crunchyroll before being released to home video by Viz Media. The second season has already been announced for a Funimation simulcast and will probably also appear on Crunchyroll. While neither site has announced a concrete date, both streams are likely to go live on their respective sites within hours of the Japanese broadcast.

Megalo Box has been a smash hit with fans since it first premiered. It's going to be exciting for them to see Joe return to the screen, though it looks like we're all in for a very dark story indeed.
