Marvel’s Kevin Feige Confirms That Valkyrie Has An LGBTQ Storyline In Thor 4

Yesterday, Thor: Ragnarok actress Tessa Thompson teased that her Marvel Cinematic Universe character, Valkyrie, would appear in Thor: Love and Thunder as a member of the LGBTQ. Now, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirms the importance of Valkyrie's sexuality in the character's journey in the highly anticipated comic book movie.

Speaking in an interview with io9 Gizmodo after Marvel's panel at this year's San Diego Comic-Con International, Feige confirmed that Valkyrie would be finding herself in the middle of an LGBTQ storyline which involves Asgard's new ruler looking for a Queen to rule the kingdom alongside her.

"The answer is yes," the Marvel producer answered when asked whether Valkyrie would really have an LGBTQ storyline in Thor 4, "How that impacts the story remains to be seen with that level of representation you'll see across our films, not in just Thor 4."

Valkyrie's sexual orientation had been hinted at in Thor: Ragnarok, but now it seems like Marvel is ready to wave the LGBTQ banner loud and proud by giving the character a fully queer storyline in Waititi's next Thor movie. Right now some fans are speculating whether Valkyrie's journey will involve Marvel's new Thor, Natalie Portman's Jane Foster.

Jane Foster was just recently confirmed as the new Thor in Thor: Love and Thunder, sparking a whole lot of discussion among Marvel fans. Portman had been absent from the MCU for quite a long time, so it came as a surprise to hear that Foster would be returning, and this time as the franchise's new Asgardian God of Thunder. We can't wait to see how it'll all turn out.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set for release on November 5, 2021.
