Marvel's Hawkeye Series Nabs Mad Men Writer To Pen Jeremy Renner Show

The planned Hawkeye series is certainly moving forward as it has found its writer. It has just been confirmed that Mad Men scribe Jonathan Igla will pen the script for the highly anticipated Jeremy Renner show that will air on Disney+.

The news comes from The Hollywood Reporter, which confirms Igla will serve as the main writer of the Marvel series. In addition to that, the Sorry For Your Loss screenwriter will be one of the show's executive producer.

This is the first major news for Hawkeye ever since the Marvel series was announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2019. Although the other shows had already found most of its creative team, the only previous confirmation about Hawkeye had been Renner's return.

The premise of Hawkeye is still a huge mystery. However, we already know that Renner will reprise his role as Clint Barton, the sharp-shooting member of the Avengers. Clint will be joined by his comic book protege Kate Bishop, who will be learning how to become a superhero without any special powers. Kate has not yet been cast but we're hoping that an announcement will be made in the near future. It is also unclear if Linda Cardelinni will be back as Clint's wife Laura Barton.

Hawkeye is just one of the several Marvel shows that are expected to air on Disney+. The lineup includes The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Wandavision, What If?, Loki, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, and Moon Knight.
