Marvel's Empyre Event Gets a Brand-New Trailer

Marvel's next big event is Empyre, a mini-series coming out on April 2020 that will have the Avengers and Fantastic Four taking on the Skrulls and Kree in an epic battle in the cosmos! It's a very classic type of Marvel event and will likely be the kind of comic that older fans will likely gravitate to. That doesn't mean younger fans will avoid it since the Fantastic Four and Avengers are pretty in right now.

The event will be written by current Fantastic Four writer Dan Slott and Marvel Comics #1000 mastermind Al Ewing, who also set this event up during last week's Incoming #1 one-shot. It seems like Marvel is also teasing that this story has been built up for years, using classic stories like the Kree/Skrull War as a basis.

Here's the synopsis for this event:

Just last week, INCOMING #1 planted the seeds for the earth-shattering event of 2020, EMPYRE! In this spectacular one-shot, readers witnessed the Kree and the Skrull unite under a new Emperor and set course for Earth. With a massive war fleet approaching, the Avengers and Fantastic Four team up for 2020 in April's EMPYRE but will their combined strength be enough to save the day? Rooted in stories spanning throughout Marvel's 80-year history, the massive build up to this story will only be rivaled by the enormous impact it has on the future of the Marvel Universe!

Considering how awesome the writers are, along with announced artist Valerio Schiti, this could be a really fun event for comic book fans. Granted, most of us are tired of these big Marvel events but if this is good, it should be a worthwhile read.

Empyre #1 comes out this April.
