Marvel will Still Make Shows for ABC, but Disney+ is the Priority

With Marvel Studios entering a whole new Phase of stories with Disney+, the door will be closing for Marvel shows on ABC like Agents of SHIELD. While fans are ready to say goodbye to that era of Marvel though, it turns out that it won't really be the end for MCU content for ABC.

Talking during the Winter TCA Press Tour (via Deadline), ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke has commented:

"We love our partners at Marvel and we're sad to see [Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D] go, it's been a big part of our history. We're looking forward to working with Kevin Feige and we're at the very beginning of conversations with him now about what a Marvel and ABC show might look like. Right now, Marvel's focus has been on Disney+, as it should be."

We don't know what kind of shows could come to ABC in the future, but hopefully, they will have the same impact on the MCU as the upcoming Disney+ Marvel shows. Though Agents of SHIELD liked to talk about its connection to the films, admittedly the movies have well-ignored anything from the TV shows—same goes for Marvel Netflix material like Daredevil or Iron Fist.

Personally, I'm just hoping for a more cohesive MCU moving forward. With Marvel getting more of its properties back in their hands, I would love everything from the films and television to start moving in one consistent direction—Disney+ or ABC.

For now, the next MCU film set to come out in Black Widow and it hits theaters May 1.
