The COVID-19 pandemic had such a heavy impact on the entertainment industry. The global outbreak of SARS- CoV-2 forced cinemas to shut down which in turn forced studios to delay the release of highly-anticipated blockbusters like Disney's Mulan, Marvel's Black Widow, and Warner Brother's Wonder Woman 1984.
The pandemic also halted the production of upcoming film and television projects – no one wanted to risk protracting the virus while working on a cramped set.
However, now that country has begun opening up, new reports indicate that Marvel is planning to resume the production of its highly-anticipated Disney+ projects, Loki and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel's two upcoming Disney+ series are set to film in Pinewood Studios in Atlanta when production resumes. The studio's plans may change over time, however, Marvel intends to continue production on Loki and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier sometime in August.
"Though [Pinewood Atlanta Studios President and CEO Frank Patterson] isn't at liberty to name any of the projects starting up soon, sources say Pinewood has two feature films and multiple streaming shows (including The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki) beginning preproduction this month, with the aim to start filming as early as August," reports the entertainment news outlet.
Of course, if Marvel is set to resume production in August, fans may expect a little delay in the release of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (the film was originally slated to premiere on Disney's streaming platform in August).
Marvel is also planning to resume the production of one of its highly anticipated films, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Let's hope that the studio takes extra precaution when resuming production.
Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is set to begin when Black Widow premieres on November 6.
