The character of Billy Kaplan (aka Wiccan) is reportedly set to make his next appearance in the upcoming WandaVision spinoff series Agatha: Coven of Chaos. This time around, the role will be played by Heartstopper star Joe Locke.

Based on what we're hearing from the rumors surrounding the character's next journey in the MCU, it is sounding like he will be aged up from his previous appearances and they will potentially set him up as one of the heroes in the Young Avengers team.

So far, Marvel Studios has not officially commented on their plans for the character, but his introduction in WandaVision is definitely an indication that he could be a pivotal player in the MCU moving forward as it expands further.

Now, it looks like the character's role might be bigger than what we anticipated as a recent rumor has suggested that he might be getting his own series.

Wiccan Series Reportedly In the Works Prior to the Strike

According to insider Daniel Richtman (via Heroic Hollywood), Marvel Studios was developing a Wiccan spinoff series prior to the current writers' and actors' strikes that have halted all productions across Hollywood.

It is likely that Marvel Studios resume working on the project once the strike ends unless the situation throws a wrench in their plan. They have also not officially commented on the scoop yet.

If the Wiccan project does end up happening, it will be the third WandaVision spinoff that is in the works following Agatha: Coven of Chaos and Vision Quest, which is also in development at the moment.

It is hard to tell at the moment why Marvel Studios is considering a Wiccan spinoff until we see what Locke does with the character, but it is a surprising move nonetheless since reports have claimed that the studio is slowing down its TV pipeline.

There is also a possibility that the project will not end up happening and this is just an idea that they are floating around without having any scripts written or a key creative attached to spearhead its development.
