Marvel Studios' acquisition of the X-Men franchise is something fans have been extremely excited about but despite all of the hype surrounding the upcoming live-action reboot, it's quite evident that Kevin Feige doesn't want to rush things. It's understandable considering the Phase 4 slate is currently packed.

However, the studio may have already planted the seeds for an intriguing project that could potentially serve as our first true taste of the mutants under the Marvel Studios banner. During an appearance on the Change My Mind podcast, tipster KC Walsh said that Marvel is developing an animated X-Men series.

Walsh did make it clear that he doesn't know if the supposed project will be something entirely different or a potential revival of the classic X-Men animated show from the 1990s. However, the scooper intriguing added: "There was talk about a year ago that people involved with that certain theme song may have had conversations with a certain studio. And I did hear in 2023 that there's a possibly animated project going into the works."

As it stands, we're not quite sure how this would factor into the MCU's continuity given the fact that it's going to be animated but I'm guessing they're following the footsteps of Lucasfilm.

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing Marvel Studios continue the '90s X-Men Animated Series because frankly speaking, it ended on such a low note. More often than not though, revivals of old classics fail to live up to their predecessors so I guess it's better that we leave the original animated series' legacy untarnished.

Meanwhile, Marvel Studios' X-Men reboot is currently under development.
