The release date for Loki Season 2 has changed abruptly from its initial September 2023 promise to October this year.

While reasons remain unknown, a new report sheds light as to why the delay happened.

Marvel has been keeping a pretty tight schedule on which films and series are releasing this year for Phase 5. It eventually all burned down to just two series: Loki Season 2 and Secret Invasion.

This comes from the heightened decline in terms of quality for their newly released content, according to how MCU fans and critics took Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Not to mention, the unaddressed controversy surrounding Jonathan Majors’ future role as Kang the Conqueror aka the main big bad of the franchise right now.

According to a new report from The Cosmic Circus, in lieu of updating the new release date for Loki Season 2, it is likely that the sudden change of release window is connected to making preparations to replace Majors.

See, back in April, Loki Season 2 was reportedly still releasing in mid-2023 in spite of Majors’ controversy.

Considering that is the Disney+ series he originally debuted in, there comes the question of how much he will be in it this second season.

Even though The Cosmic Circus is seemingly implying that Majors will still, in fact, be a part of the series, Marvel and Disney are “closely monitoring the case before making any official decision”.

It remains to be seen when exactly we’ll be seeing the fruit of this labor, however, a previous report did say that if Kang is indeed a part of the series, he will have lesser screen time as compared to his previous appearance.

For those unaware, Majors had been accused of committing domestic abuse and sexual assault on his former girlfriends and has had a line of victims confessing to his crimes.

Marvel has yet to give out their qualms on the issue, but it is clear that Majors’ Hollywood career has vanished as his own agency already let him go.

Loki Season 2 is now reportedly releasing in October this year.
