It looks like Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige is branching out to other Disney properties and he's going to one of the company's biggest money-makers, which is saying a lot. Now that Feige has proven himself with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, reports are coming that he is developing a Star Wars movie. This is obviously huge news since Feige has proven to be a huge boon for Marvel and he could bring a lot of quality to Star Wars.
What kind of movie Feige will be making for the franchise wasn't detailed but he will produce it alongside LucasFilm president Kathleen Kennedy. This has insiders talking about a bigger role for Feige in Disney, though talk of replacing Kennedy is reportedly not happening. Not yet anyway but let's wait and see.
Disney probably wants Feige to add some of his Marvel magic to their Star Wars films, which is interesting since you can see some MCU influence in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. It helps that Feige is a big Star Wars fan and you can see that franchise's influence on Marvel Studios as well. He'll definitely be an asset to LucasFilm and we can't wait to see what he does for Star Wars.
As a filthy Marvel Studios stan and a casual Star Wars fan, the news is exciting. Admittedly, I rather he produces more of the Marvel movies and tries to strike a deal with Sony to keep my boy Spider-Man in the MCU but the information is pretty cool. Let's hope it leads to more movies that are as good as The Last Jedi (fight me).
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker comes out on December 20.
