It's been a wild 24 hours for fans of the Man of Steel as new details surrounding Superman: Legacy's cast have finally come to light. Yesterday, The Hollywood Reporter dropped a major bombshell, reporting that the anticipated DC Universe project is already in its casting stages.

According to the outlet, Hollywood star David Corenswet is a top contender for the role of Superman, as well as actors Tom Brittney and Andrew Richardson.

THR also reported that X-Men and Renfield star Nicholas Hoult was being eyed for the role of Lex Luthor but it looks like that's not the case after all.

Deadline's Senior Film Reporter Justin Kroll took to Twitter to debunk the circulating reports, saying that Hoult is actually also in contention to play Clark Kent instead of his archnemesis.

Director and DC Studios co-head James Gunn immediately addressed the reports on his Twitter but chose to play coy about the list of actors that have surfaced.

Most of you are probably aware that Hoult previously auditioned to be the Dark Knight in Matt Reeves' The Batman but ultimately lost the bet to Robert Pattinson.

While his experience in the comic book film genre undoubtedly gives him a huge advantage, I personally think there are other DC roles he can take on.

Honestly, the idea of him becoming Lex doesn't sound so bad and I'm hoping that's the route James Gunn will actually take should Hoult actually get cast.

DC Studios' Superman: Legacy is currently eyeing a July 11, 2025 release date.
