Marvel Reveals Black Widow's First Encounter with Taskmaster

We already know that Taskmaster will be playing a huge role in Black Widow. But is it possible that he is someone from Natasha Romanoff's past? Marvel Comics has just confirmed that Nat had previously encountered the villain and that he played a huge role in helping her when she became a member of SHIELD.

Marvel Comics has just released a five-page preview of the new comic book series Marvel's Avengers: Black Widow #1 which follows Nat while she is training with SHIELD operatives. At the end of the preview, Nick Fury tells Nat that she will learn how to lead SHIELD teams from someone named Tony Masters.

Comic book fans already know that Masters is just one of the many names that Taskmaster takes before going rogue. Interestingly, this means that Nat could finally meet Masters in this issue or the next one.

So is this something that we'll see in Black Widow? The new comic series is actually a tie-in with the Square Enix game Marvel's Avengers and is most likely to depict Taskmaster's storyline in the title. For now, it is unclear if the Marvel Cinematic Universe flick will feature a similar story arc for the Taskmaster that Scarlett Johansson will face in the film.

Marvel's Avengers: Black Widow #1 will be released on March 25 while the game is expected to be available on Stadia, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in September 2020. The premiere of Black Widow in May has been postponed due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
