Marvel Looks At 80 Years From Now With Upcoming Release Of One-Shot Comics



Marvel has made a name for itself and remains to be one of the top comic publishers and companies in the world. Along with this success are millions of fans who love their projects dearly. And as Marvel celebrates its 80th anniversary, they decide to visit the future universe of the year 2099.

The upcoming comics are a series of one-shots that are set 80 years into the future. Prior to the heroes announced in the original 2099 event, there would also be new additions. These comic one-shots aim to bring the Marvel veterans and newbies in order to traverse the MCU as it grows.

The writers who will be working on the one-shots are Ed Brisson, Jody Houser, Nick Spencer, and Chip Zdarsky. Along with them are artists Damian Couceiro, Francesco Mobili, Jose Carlos Silva, Gerardo Sandoval, and Marco Castiello. Marvel attempts to bring back the characters Spider-Man, Ghost Rider, Doctor Doom, as well as "new faces".

Following this report is Chip Zdarsky's statement regarding DOOM 2099 #1. Saying that he loved the original one, and having the opportunity to work on it would be "a total dream project" for him.



"In our one-shot, we do our best to really hold onto the spirit of the original, of Victor Von Doom starting from the bottom, while giving it some new twists, like his astounding 2099 hip hop career", he adds. Zdarsky will team up with Marco Castiello who will be providing the art.

Nick Spencer "will go from one Spider to another" as he will be working on SPIDER-MAN 2099 #1 along with Jose Carlos Silva as the artist. The story surrounds Miguel O'Hara, who seems to be having a hard time saving the Marvel Universe from an "uncertain future".

GHOST RIDER 2099 #1's art is by Damian Couceiro and will be written by Ed Brisson. Stating that his team tried their best to reimagine the origin of Ghost Rider, creating a new path but at the same time, they aim to pay homage to the ‘90s series.

VENOM 2099 #1. Written by Jody Houser with art from Francesco Mobili. Houser described this comic with the word "Help".

This will wrap up with the 2099 OMEGA #1 which is also written by Spencer. Together with Gerardo Sandoval as the artist, it tackles a story of the future "that ends here" and is under Doctor Doom's control. Apparently, there will be no superheroes present in this one.

Marvel surely has a lot planned for the world of 2099 and fans are all for it! Seeing a new side to the aforementioned characters will surely be intriguing for the people who plan to read on the upcoming one-shots.

Marvel 2099 one-shots will be released this December.
