Marvel is Looking for 'Openly Gay, Bisexual Asian Actors' to Lead The Eternals

Avengers: Endgame may be closing one door for Marvel Studios, but the franchise seeks to keep going well into the future. Work has already started on The Eternals, and though it's been reported before that the movie is looking for a gay male lead, there's now a new detail added to their casting wishlist.

According to That Hashtag Show, The Eternals is now looking at "openly gay/bisexual Asian actors in their 20's," to play James, a character who is described as "intellectual, emotional, and has a strong sense of family." While nobody is cast in the part yet, the studio is said to be looking at Conrad Ricamora who is currently starring in How to Get Away with Murder.

It's odd that The Eternals is now looking for an Asian lead as it was being said that the MCU was aiming for their first Asian superhero to be Shang-Chi. Then again, I don't really care what ethnicity the lead character of Eternals is going to be, as long as they pick the right actor.

For now, there are only two actors who have been cast in The Eternals. Angelina Jolie is onboard for the role of Sersi, a member of the Eternals who was even an Avenger at some point. We also have Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley) in the cast, but it's still unknown which character he's going to be playing in the film.

Rumor has it that Eternals is aiming to start production this summer, and with that in mind, we could be looking at a release later next year. Hopefully, by the time Avengers: Endgame is done, Marvel can give us a specific date.
