Marvel Fans Believe MCU Made A Mistake Casting Brie Larson Instead of Charlize Theron

Marvel Studio's Captain Marvel standalone movie may have earned 1.128 billion at the global box office when it premiered in March last year, however, the studio's decision to cast Brie Larson as Carol Danvers may have proven to be problematic.

Though fans were eager to see the Academy Award-winning actress put on a spandex suit and kick butt as Marvel's photon-blasting superhero, Larson earned quite a reputation ever since she began working on the marketing campaign of Captain Marvel. Conservative fans found themselves hurt after one of Larson's award speeches where she declared that she didn't want white men to comment on her film as it wasn't made for them. Other fans began taking offense at the actress for her defensive attitude during interviews and for her seemingly narcissistic and condescending tone during the promotional rounds of Captain Marvel.

With so much dislike for Larson, it isn't difficult to wonder whether Marvel had made a mistake of casting the actress in the role. That question has become even more prominent this week when BossLogic shared a picture of Charlize Theron as Captain Marvel.

Fans sharing and commenting on the artwork were quick to point out how they've always wanted to see the Mad Max: Fury Road star as Carol Danvers.

The Atomic Blond star had always been a fan-favorite when it came to fan castings and before Marvel announced its decision to cast Larson as Danvers, many hoped that Theron would take on the role. Now, it seems like fans seem to wish for the same thing, saying that they would have rather have Theron play the photon-blasting Avenger than Larson. Theron has had quite a career in action movies, and like Larson, the actress has won multiple awards for her work, including an Academy Award for her performance in the movie Monster.

How about you? Would you rather have Charlize Theron as Captain Marvel? Let us know in the comment section below.
