Marvel Explains Why Spider-Man: Far From Home Closes Phase Three Of The MCU

Avengers: Endgame not only served as the follow-up to Avengers: Infinity War, the film also served as the culmination of the past three phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, according to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, the Infinity Saga's story doesn't end with Endgame. No, it looks like the final chapter in the saga turns out to be Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Speaking in a featurette, (via Comicbook.com ) Feige tries to explain the importance of Far From Home, revealing the role the film plays in the franchise.

"We've been working for many years in Infinity War and Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home," Feige told the entertainment news outlet. "Those were the films that were culminating the entire Infinity Saga of the MCU. And as we were working on Endgame, we realized that the true end of the Infinity Saga, the final film of Phase 3, had to be Spider-Man: Far From Home, because --spoiler-- we lose Tony Stark at the end of Endgame."

It might seem a bit confusing knowing how Marvel marketed Endgame as the culmination of the franchise, but then again, it does make sense. After all, Spider-Man: Far From Home is going to begin directly after the events of Endgame and everyone is expecting to see the aftermath of Tony Stark's (Robert Downey Jr.) death in the film. It definitely won't be easy for Peter to deal with the loss – Tony was his mentor and seemed much like a father figure to the highschooler.

We definitely can't wait to see Far From Home come around.

Avengers: Endgame is currently screening in cinemas.
