Marvel EIC Got His Banned Star Wars Detonator Bottles Past TSA

Star Wars fans may have been celebrating the recently opened Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge in Hollywood Studios in Florida, however, all the good spirits seemed to dampen when word came out that special Coke bottles being sold at the Star Wars theme park had been banned by the Transportation Security Administration.

There was a lot of love for the novelty bottles. Shaped like thermal detonators made famous by Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, the bottles served as interesting collectibles for fans. However, the TSA has banned the bottles from the airport, saying that they violate airport policies.

Luckily, it seems like Marvel Editor-in-Chief CB Cebulski's found a little workaround for the movie. Taking to social media, the comic book editor and writer explained how he got his empty Galaxy's Edge Coca-Cola bottle right through airport security.

"After D23 last week, I was able to get my empty Galaxy's Edge Coca-Cola bottle through TSA by removing it from my carry-on, separating the top from the bottle, and explaining to the agent what it was before running it through the scanner," Cebulski wrote on his tweet.

Of course, there's no certainty that the agent handling your baggage would accept the detonator bottles the same way they understood Cebulski, but there's no harm in trying really. You could still try to get the bottles through the TSA by separating it from your carry-on. Still, you should be ready to accept ditching the bottle if it doesn't work though. We don't think anyone can really force the TSA to accept the Coke bottles – they do look like detonators after all.
