The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is setting sail once again!

With the help from Birds of Prey screenwriter Christina Hodson, it's a pirate's life for Margot Robbie as she'll star in the female-fronted Pirates of the Caribbean movie for Disney.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news, saying that while plot details are kept under wraps for now, the film is separate from the other reboot that was already announced from Pirates scribe Ted Elliot and Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin.

Instead, this female-led story will feature an original story along with new characters under the Pirates moniker, inspired by the long-running attraction at Disneyland. Longtime Pirates producer Jerry Bruckheimer is attached to produce both the reboot project as well as this new one.

The movie is still in early development and Robbie's character is yet to be revealed. That said, the Pirates theme park attraction had a recent upgrade where a female pirate named Redd was added. Since then, it has been speculated that this could be related to a new project, with the character becoming the center of a new movie. Now, this upcoming Pirates film seems to be connected in that way.
