Margot Robbie is currently working on The Suicide Squad and it looks like the Birds of Prey star is already loving what James Gunn is doing with the reboot/sequel. Robbie teased on the humor that the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director is adding to her new DC Extended Universe flick.
Robbie recently spoke to Variety, who told her that her co-star Joel Kinnaman teased on how hilarious their new film is going to be. Not surprisingly, the Bombshell actress agreed and immediately praised Gunn for his writing.
"He's right… You're going to be laughing a lot," Robbie said. "It's going to be good is all I can say for now. It's going to be very, very good."
We already know that Gunn is fully capable of injecting humor in scenes that would otherwise end up being bland if handled by a different director. If Robbie and Kinnaman are impressed with what he's doing with The Suicide Squad, there is little doubt that the film is going to be hilarious.
The Suicide Squad will also bring back Viola Davis as Amanda Waller and Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang. New cast members include David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior, Idris Elba, John Cena, Storm Reid ,Steve Agee, Flula Borg, Michael Rooker, Nathan Fillion, Peter Capaldi, Pete Davidson, Alice Braga, Sean Gunn, Taika Waititi, Joaquín Cosío, Mayling Ng, Juan Diego Botto, Tinashe Kajese, Julio Ruiz, and Jennifer Holland.
The Suicide Squad is scheduled for release on August 6, 2021. Robbie will return as Harley Quinn in Birds of Prey, which will premiere on February 7, 2020.
