Ma Dong Seok savored success in The Roundup – his first film since joining Marvel Cinematic Universe’s The Eternals.
After becoming an MCU hero, Ma Dong Seok returned to South Korea to film the installment of his hit 2017 film, The Outlaws.
The Roundup explores the detective Ma Seok Do and his police station’s violent crimes squad. They are tasked to stop the crime in the country. But this time, they need to beat Kang Hae Sang, a supervillain who has been doing crimes in Vietnam.
Following its premiere on May 18, The Roundup immediately broke records and made history through the actor.

The Roundup Becomes Most-Watched Film in 2022 to Date
Korea Herald noted that the second installment in The Outlaws franchise became the biggest hit film in 2022 as of press time.
The Roundup officially garnered an over 6.5 million audience, as shown by the box-office data on Monday. From Friday to Sunday, it garnered 1.79 million people, making a combined total of 6.54 million.
The Korean Film Council now sees it as the highest audience record set by the films released this year so far. It even beat Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which has a 5.75 million audience since its release in May.

With that said, The Roundup also ultimately became the most-watched Korean film since the disaster movie Ashfall in 2019. The latter had a total of 8.25 million overall.
Following Ma Dong Seok’s new films are Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and The Red Herring.
Ma Dong Seok Serves The Roundup as Surprise to Fans
Before The Roundup received the good news, Ma Dong Seok already hinted that the film would be worth it as they did everything to perfectly create the newest installment.
“In order to show more improved skills compared to the original film, I worked on polishing up some special skills like judo and self-defense in addition to boxing. In Hollywood, there’s actors like Dwayne Johnson who specialize in the action genre. I’m working hard to take what I do well and improve even more,” he said.
Ma Dong Seok said he had been feeling nervous because of his new project, but it gave him another milestone in return, instead.
