Luke Skywalker Stand-In Actor Didn't Return for The Book of Boba Fett

Fans were undoubtedly beside themselves when Luke Skywalker made a cameo appearance in The Mandalorian Season 2's grand finale. But despite all the goosebumps his return delivered, viewers couldn't help but feel thrown off by the way he looked. It was obvious from the moment Luke unhooded himself that Lucasfilm did a sloppy job digitally de-aging Mark Hamill's iconic character.

Thankfully, the production company listened to the fans' criticisms and went out of their way to fix the CGI issue. Luke's appearance in The Book of Boba Fett's Chapter 6 was night and day compared to how he looked in The Mandalorian and it's all thanks to the amazing work of deepfake artist Shamook. Now, you not have noticed it but Hamill's original stand-in actor Max Lloyd-Jones was apparently recast for the episode.

In the credits for Chapter 6 titled "From the Desert Comes a Stranger" (via The Direct), actor and voice artist Graham Hamilton was credited as Skywalker's "Performance Artist". The credits don't exactly refer to Hamilton as Hamill's stand-in but the absence of Lloyd-Jones' name pretty much indicates that the former body double was recast in the show.

Max, who reaped praise from Hamill himself for his performance has yet to address the matter but I gotta say, I think they made the right call this time around using a new actor who somehow resembled Hamill's face shape. Lloyd-Jones was great, don't get me wrong but he had a more prominent jawline and chin that almost made Luke "boxy" for the lack of a better term. At least he still made a cameo as an X-Wing pilot in Episode 5.

The Book of Boba Fett Chapter 6 is now streaming exclusively on Disney+.
