Luke Hemsworth was 'Stung' by Star Wars Snub

Before Lucasfilm decided to cast Hail Caesar! star Alden Ehrenreich as Star Wars Young Han Solo, the studio was also considering Luke Hemsworth for the lead in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Unfortunately, the actor didn't really make the cut, and the role eventually went to Ehrenreich.

Speaking in an interview with News.com (via Fox41), the 38-year-old actor opened up about his audition for young Han Solo. According to the older brother of Thor: Ragnarok star Chris Hemsworth and The Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth, he felt "stung" by Lucasfilm's decision to go with Ehrenreich, leaving him in the dust after auditions. Luke Hemsworth just really, really wanted to play young Han Solo.

"I've definitely auditioned for Solo, Han Solo. I really wanted that. That one really hurt more than others because I wanted it so much," the actor admitted. "You develop a thick skin fairly quickly because more often than not you're getting turned down."

According to the older Hemsworth brother, auditioning for Solo wasn't all that enjoyable, describing the experience as something from an "alien environment."

We understand why Luke wouldn't be too happy with his Star Wars auditioning experience. We wouldn't look at the audition too fondly either if we'd would have been turned down for the role. Of course, Luke shouldn't really give up joining Star Wars. Now that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is set for home release, Lucasfilm is moving away from the Skywalker saga, promising new stories for the Star Wars franchise. We're sure that the actor would have more chances to audition for roles in the new Star Wars movies.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is now streaming on Disney+.
