Love of Kill is a rare josei adaptation, airing as part of the winter 2022 anime season. If you love the enemies-to-lovers trope, it has elements you might enjoy, though some might disagree as to how well-done these elements are.

At least, the mystery anime promises to tell a more sinister story than initially suspected, which explains some of the main duo's most bizarre behaviors. It is those mysteries that sustain the show and make fans hungry for more. So, for those who can't wait for the finale of the 12-episode anime, is Love of Kill, based on a manga or light novel, and what's its status?

Love of Kill, known in original Japanese as Koroshi Ai, is a mystery anime following two main characters; Chateau Dankworth, a young bounty hunter, and Song Ryang-ha, a criminal, who soon becomes one of her targets. As it turns out, Ryang-ha has targeted Chateau in a completely different way, looking to win her favor and spend as much time with her as possible.

Unfortunately, the character dynamic between the two isn't as intriguing as it could have been, given that the relationship starts off very one-sided, with Chateau doing her best to repulse Ryang-ha. If she was attracted too, in spite of herself, and fought against that attraction because she deemed it wrong, then we'd be talking about a more interesting romance.

At least, it's heavily implied that both characters' fates are interwoven due to their shared traumatic past, which would explain some of their behaviors, while also making us eager to keep watching, for answers, if for nothing else.

Love of Kill is based on a manga, written and illustrated by Fe. The creator first started publishing the series in the online community Pixiv, under the telling title "I Wanted to Read a Manga About an Assassin Couple in Love so I Started Drawing One." As of February 2022, there are 11 volumes, which are all translated or forthcoming in English.

The story of Chateau and Ryang-ha is therefore ongoing, and we expect to see more of them in the future. What this means for future episodes of Love of Kill will depend both on its popularity and the manga chapters yet to come.
