Lord Toranaga appeared to lose everything once he surrendered himself instead of fighting back to push through with his Crimson Sky plan.

However, because of this move, Lord Toranaga's clan has cast doubts on his decision.

As it turns out, even though Lady Mariko seems saddened by the turn of events, Lord Toranaga reminds her that everything is according to his favor. Even if it means that his most trusted friend committed seppuku right in front of him.

Lady Mariko may have wept but she was quick on her feet, as expected, and was determined to fulfill her side of the deal. She plans on pushing forth with whatever Lord Toranaga asks of her.

Despite the majority of Lord Toranaga's clan having their faith in him fade, Lady Mariko sticks to his side and wishes "not to deepen the wound by disagreeing" with his decision, which declares her undying loyalty to him.

As Lady Mariko climbs aboard Blackthorne's ship, she speaks to him with a letter in her hand, to tell the Hatamoto, "Lord Toranaga has requested I accompany you to Osaka."

Considering that Lord Yabushige and the others were surmised to join John Blackthorne on his ship, it only makes sense that Lady Mariko offers her wisdom and assistance to the Hatamoto.

Remember the Crimson Sky plan? Well, episode 8 is likely heading towards the "plan B" into executing Lord Toranaga's victory at the end of Shōgun, using the Anjin and his ship. For now, we'll have to wait until the next episode unfolds.
