The God is Mischief is on his way to wreak havoc in the multiverse or possibly be the one to save it. The official trailer for Marvel Studios' upcoming series Loki premiered this week and it pretty much confirmed early theories surrounding its crazy plot. In the show, actor Tom Hiddleston returns as the cunning half-brother of Thor from an alternate reality, and thanks to him getting possession of the Tesseract, he somehow becomes responsible for disrupting other realities that exist in the multiverse.

The trailer is loaded with a lot of teases — from Loki working with the Time Variance Authority (TVA) to his interaction with a mysterious woman who a lot of people believe is Lady Loki but arguably, the teaser's highlight has something to do with a "major" (as in Jonathan Majors) tease regarding the Marvel Cinematic Universe's next big villain.

It was officially confirmed last year that Jonathan Majors will be joining the MCU as Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania but apparently, our first true taste of the next Thanos-level baddie will come in Loki. You may be asking why but it makes complete sense due to the fact that Kang is also known for his ability to time travel.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw's involvement in the show as a TVA agent also seems to solidify the Kang connection since she's playing a character named Judge Renslayer aka Ravonna, Kang's love interest in the comics. Now, whether or not Kang actually shows up in the series remains to be seen but Loki could definitely serve as a foreshadowing of things to come.

Loki is scheduled for release on June 11, 2021.
