Lizzy Caplan has joined FX's upcoming Far Cry TV series. The live-action adaptation was first reported in November 2025, from creators Noah Hawley (Alien: Earth, Fargo) and Rob Mac (Lost, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Mythic Quest), with Mac also set to star.
While character and plot details for the adaptation remain under wraps, the series will follow an anthology format, similar to the Far Cry video games, while featuring a different cast and setting each season. As of writing, nothing much has been said about Caplan's character, but considering her impressive range when playing complex characters, fans can only envision what we can look forward to.
Caplan is no stranger to FX, as her works include Fleishman is in Trouble (which earned her an Emmy nomination for outstanding lead actress in a limited series) and Masters of Sex (previously nominated for outstanding lead actress in a drama). Caplan's former TV roles include Fatal Attraction, Zero Day, Party Down, Smallville, and Castle Rock.
Meanwhile, in film, she appeared in the thriller, Cobweb, and starred in franchises like Now You See Me, Cloverfield, and acclaimed dramas like 127 Hours.
What Fans Can Expect from FX's Upcoming Anthology Series

Far Cry will be airing on FX, Hulu, and Disney+ internationally, with Mac executive producing under his More Better Productions banner, while Hawley will executive produce under his overall deal with FX and Disney Entertainment Television via 26 Keys. The series will be produced by FX Productions.
The star-studded executive producing team also includes Simon Emanuel, Emilia Serrano, Nick Frenkel, Monica Macer, Peter Calloeway, John Campisi, alongside Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill representing Ubisoft Film & Television.
This will be the Ubisoft video game's first live-action adaptation for TV. The games were previously adapted into a 2008 direct-to-video film starring Til Schweiger and directed by Uwe Boll. Netflix also released the animated series, Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, in 2023, which was inspired by Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.
Showrunner Noah Hawley has already noted that the new series will feature an entirely original story that won't adapt any single game beat-for-beat, but will instead "have a dialogue" with the franchise's overarching themes of human survival amid absolute lawlessness.
No specific release date has been announced for FX's Far Cry yet. Stay tuned!
