For years, Lizzo has been showing a dramatic body transformation that many have speculated was due to Ozempic. To put an end to the longstanding rumors, the singer-rapper has finally revealed the truth behind her significant weight loss with shocking before-and-after photos.
Real name Melissa Viviane Jefferson, the 37-year-old opened up about her health journey, and no—it has nothing to do with weight loss drugs as many assumed. It’s all the result of hard work and dedication.
What Did Lizzo Reveal About Her Weight Loss Journey?
Lizzo recently shared an appreciation post for Flavia Lanini and the Flavia Lanini Beauty Institute, which offers a signature massage that combines lymphatic drainage (removing excess fluid from body tissues and returning it to the bloodstream), contouring (using deeper strokes to release tissue, boost metabolism, and promote a slimming effect), and relaxation.
Her before-and-after photos show a significant change in body volume, with her latest snap showing a leaner physique—dramatically different from before.
“The photo on the left is my first time getting lymphatic massage from Flavia, and the right is the most recent,” her caption reads.
Amid speculation that she's using Ozempic, the singer-songwriter clarified that her transformation is the result of hard work. She trains three times a week, does daily sauna and cardio sessions, and has reintroduced animal protein into her diet.
She also hired a personal chef to prepare her meals and monitor her eating habits, following a calorie deficit that excludes sugary drinks, full-fat sodas, and potato chips.
“I play pickleball and hike and walk on the beach and move my body and dance and drink water,” Lizzo continued. “I detox! Once a month! I also get holistic body work done, wood therapy, and lymphatic massage. I’m so happy and proud of what I’ve done and no one can take that away from me.”
Did Lizzo Ever Take Ozempic?

Back in June, Lizzo admitted to trying Ozempic but made it clear that it wasn’t the reason behind her weight loss.
In fact, she also tried other GLP-1 drugs, used to manage type 2 diabetes and obesity, but eventually realized they weren’t the most effective way for her to achieve her goal body.
“I tried everything,” she said on Just Trish podcast. “Ozempic works because you eat less food, yeah? So if you eat right, it makes you feel full. But if you can just do that on your own and get mind over matter, it's the same thing.”
However, it was only when she started eating meat again that she saw the results she wanted.
“What did it for me is, it was not being vegan,” she continued. When I started actually eating whole foods and eating, like, beef and chicken and fish, I was actually full and not expanding my stomach by putting a lot of fake things in there that wasn't actually filling me up.”
Lizzo also asked haters to stop criticizing people who opt to use Ozempic to lose weight, calling this method “not cheating.”
“It's not easy,” the Grammy winner said. “It's a drug to help somebody with something they're struggling with.”
With this revelation, Lizzo just proves that not nothing beats hard work when it comes to achieving someone’s goal.
