The season 2 premiere episodes of the hit Paramount+ series Lioness introduced viewers to several new characters that are joining Joe's team including Cody Spears.

Who is Playing Cody Spears in Lioness Season 2?
Season 2's new character Cody Spears is played by none other than Lioness showrunner Taylor Sheridan.
While Sheridan is now known as a showrunner/writer/producer/director of various hit TV series such as Yellowstone and Mayor of Kingstown, he is also an actor who had well-known credits such as Sons of Anarchy.
His role as Cody Spears marked Sheridan's acting debut in Lioness, and he is expected to have a recurring role throughout the current season.
There is no explanation yet why Sheridan decided to also step in front of the camera for season 2 aside from his showrunner duties, but it is exciting casting for fans of the series as they can now witness an addition of his talent on screen.
Cody Spears' Role in Lioness Season 2
Cody Spears is introduced as a former SEAL who is part of Joe's team when they rescue a kidnapped U.S. congresswoman from the cartel across the southern border.
He played a pivotal role during the season 2 premiere episode as he drove the team to their mission and is the reason why it was a success even with the demise of one of the soldiers.
The character appeared briefly during the second episode where he tagged along with the QRF team and left soon after for another discrete mission.
It is unknown yet whether he will immediately return in next week's episode, but there is no doubt that he will be a major recurring character in the new season considering his key role in the premiere.
Even if we won't see Cody in the subsequent episodes, Sheridan still has his imprint for the rest of the season since he wrote the entire season and is set to direct next week's third episode as well.
