The live-action Lilo & Stitch 2 is now in production in Hawaii, with original co-creator Chris Sanders returning to voice Experiment 626 and write and direct the sequel.
As filming takes place on the streets of the Aloha State, onlookers have spotted another familiar-looking alien: Angel, aka Experiment 624.
In the set photos, Angel can be seen sitting next to Stitch on a blue cooler. By the looks of it, the two are busy fishing, while Stitch wears his cute bucket hat.
So, who is Angel, and why is she in Lilo & Stitch 2? Angel first appeared in Lilo & Stitch: The Series, where she was stranded on Earth after Jumba’s experiment pods were scattered.
Just like Stitch, who possesses special powers, Angel also has unique abilities, including singing a “Siren Song” that reveals the darker side of people who are easily influenced.
She has also become Stitch’s main love interest. But by the looks of it, Angel has joined the live-action sequel to continue her bond with Stitch.
In fact, this is similar to what Lilo actress Maia Kealoha said about Angel’s introduction in the live-action franchise.
“I think that they’re going to have such a great bond, like me and Sydney [Agudong],” she told The Wrap. “I feel like they’re going to feel like brother and sister, because that’s basically Stitch’s ohana.”
With Angel’s live-action debut, fans will have to wait and see what kind of relationship she will have with Stitch in Lilo & Stitch 2.
What Is Lilo & Stitch 2 About?
Just a month after the first movie’s release, Disney announced Lilo & Stitch 2.
“Should've known he couldn't keep a secret,” a social media post featuring Stitch driving a convertible read. “A 626 day surprise: #LiloAndStitch 2 is now in development!”
But unlike the animated sequel, Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch, the live-action follow-up will tell an original story set in Hawaii rather than remake the previous film.
In the sequel, the titular characters are set to meet Angel, who will make her live-action debut with her signature pink appearance, glowing antennae, and hypnotic siren song on the big screen.
In addition to Sanders returning to voice Stitch, the movie will also see Maia Kealoha reprise her role as Lilo, alongside Elizabeth Agudong as Nani.
Lilo & Stitch 2 is set to hit theaters on May 26.
