In case you missed it, Warner Bros. has finally found the new Barbara Gordon. The studio has chosen Leslie Grace to take on the titular role in the upcoming Batgirl movie. Not surprisingly, the In The Heights star is thrilled to be part of the DC Universe and she has shared some awesome posters celebrating her casting.
Earlier this week, there were reports that Warner Bros. has rounded up the final group of actresses being tested for the role that included Grace, Isabella Merced, Zoey Deutch, and Haley Lu Richardson. However, Deadline confirms that the studio ultimately chose Grace to lead the new DCEU movie.
Grace has since been very active on social media, sharing tweets about the casting and just being thrilled about her new role. The official Batman Twitter account has since welcomed Grace into Gotham and she was quick to retweet the poster that came with the post. Check it out below.
It's great to see that Batman is just as happy as we are about Grace's casting. For now, Grace is the only star confirmed for Batgirl. However, there is little doubt we'll be getting more updates on the cast in the next few months.
The Batgirl film will be directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah while the script is being written by Christina Hodson. Kristin Burr has been confirmed to produce the project, which is one of the first major properties that will debut exclusively on HBO Max. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
