Lee Su Jeong formally continued her career after the disbandment of her girl group, Lovelyz.
Last year, Lovelyz’s agency, Woollim Entertainment, released a statement confirming the girl group’s split ahead of the expiration of the members’ contracts on November 16. Seven members – Yoo Ji Ae, Ryu Soo Jung, JIN, Kei, Jeong Yein, Lee Mijoo, and Seo Ji Soo – decided to leave the company for good.
Meanwhile, the group’s leader Baby Soul – whose real name is Lee Su Jeong – decided to stay.

Lee Su Jeong Continues As Soloist After Lovelyz’s Disbandment
Months after Lovelyz said goodbye as a group, Lee Su Jeong came forward and debuted as a soloist. She reportedly spent most of her time exploring herself and finding the pieces of her that could complete the puzzle.
In a new interview shared by The Korea Times, Lee Su Jeong revealed how she never realized that she tried so hard to live as Baby Soul instead of living in her true self.

"I almost did not know anything about myself. So after I decided to go solo, I began using my real name to mark the beginning of the new journey to discover who I am. But I still chose to renew my contract with Woollim out of the belief that this company suits me the best in many ways,” she said.
For eight years, she served as the girl group’s leader and did what was only best for the group. Although it took her years before she found herself, everything has reportedly been worth it.

Among the things she learned about herself includes her favorite flower.
Per Lee Su Jeong, fans always asked her about her favorite flower, but she could not give them a definite answer as she did not know about her preference. But now, she reportedly says that she likes cherry blossoms the most.
By knowing herself, she reportedly gained the chance to be more confident and have the authority to control herself. Surprisingly, it also left an impact on her music.
"My first solo EP, 'My Name,' offers the songs that sound quite different from those of Lovelyz, because they reflect my personal taste," she explained. "Most of the tracks are far from being saccharine love songs. They are powerful, energetic and dynamic."
Lee Su Jeong’s My Name will be released on Tuesday.
