As the families, individuals, and the nation mourn the passing of more than 150 victims in the Itaewon crowd crush, a witness sheds light regarding the death of Produce 101 season 2 contestant Lee Ji Han.

The budding singer-actor is among those who died in the Itaewon crowd crush amid the celebration of Halloween.

However, reports cited that Lee Ji Han died after saving a girl from the stampede.

Itaewon Tragedy: Lee Ji Han’s Cause of Death Revealed

In a report cited by KBizoom, a witness recalled the horrific incident that happened on October 31 in the streets of Itaewon.

A witness shared that Lee Ji Han noticed a girl being stuck in the pool of crowd and went to save her; unfortunately, the actor didn't make it but was able to rescue the girl.

Moreover, in the same report, it was revealed that the 24-year-old singer-actor did not participate in the Halloween celebration and was just passing by since he lived along Itaewon.

Following Lee Ji Han’s death, the family of the girl whom the actor rescued thanked his family and expressed their deep gratitude and at the same time regret regarding the loss of their loved one.

Lee Ji Han’s Mother Visited the Halloween Crowd Crush Site

In a separate report, Lee Ji Han’s mother bravely visited the lost and found area where the Itaewon crowd crush site occurred.

In the area, several shoes, bags, and personal items were recovered from the victims.

In an interview, Lee Ji Han's mother cried while holding her son’s shoes in her arms.

Here, she recalled the time when she learned about the incident and shared that she “looked everywhere in the hospital” only to find out that her son is dead.

“I gave him mouth-to-mouth, but he didn’t wake up. He was such a pretty boy; he was my treasure,” the grieving mother said, as obtained by a media outlet.

In addition, she also expressed her frustration with the police and said “If the prime minister’s son had called 112 (an emergency hotline in Korea), hundreds of police would have been dispatched to the scene.”

Besides joining the survival talent search, Lee Ji Han had his K-drama debut in the 2019 series Today Was Another Nam Hyun Day and is currently filming his upcoming K-drama The Season of Kkokdu under MBC.
