DC Studios has found their frontrunners for the role of John Stewart in DCU's highly-anticipated Green Lantern Corps series Lanterns.
Last week, we learned the exciting news that Kyle Chandler has been tapped to play the fan-favorite hero Hal Jordan in the HBO/DCU series. He will serve as one of the main leads.
Fans are now looking forward to seeing which actor DC Studios will cast to play John Stewart, the other main lead of the series. Fortunately, it looks like they are closer to casting the coveted DCU role.
Meet the Frontrunners for John Stewart in Lanterns
According to a new report, Rebel Ridge star Aaron Pierre and Beacon 23 star Stephan James are the frontrunners for the role of John Stewart in Lanterns.
It is unknown yet whether they have undergone a screen test or reading for the role, but DC Studios is expected to make a decision very soon.
Snowfall star Damson Idris was also previously in contention, but he is no longer part of the list due to scheduling conflicts.
Production will begin production in Atlanta from January to June of next year. The series will focus on the two Green Lantern Corps members as they investigate an Earth-bound murder with larger implications.
Pierre and James are both talented actors who could effectively play John Stewart so it's exciting that they are the frontrunners for the coveted role and casting either of them would be a major win for fans.
After years of being a fan-favorite Green Lantern Corps member, the series will mark John Stewart's live-action debut which is why there is a lot of anticipation on who they'll cast to play the role.
Hopefully, we will be able to hear an update soon, but it is great that we're one step closer to finding out which actor will play the iconic hero and join the DCU family.
