Komi Can't Communicate is based on the manga by Tomohito Oda which was initially released as a one-shot chapter on Shogakukan's Weekly Shōnen Sunday. It would later be serialized in the same publication and get an anime adaptation as well as a live-action film.
The story follows Hitohito Tadano, an average schoolboy who discovers that the school's cool and popular beauty Shoko Komi actually suffers from a severe communication disorder. As then bond, Komi admits to Tadano that she dreams of making 100 friends and he immediately sets out to help her achieve her goal.
